It’s kind of like having a crush on a celebrity, except, chances are, if you’re part of the slam poetry community and you’re anywhere near social, you probably know your poet crush personally. Chances are, you’re probably friends with them.
It’s this weird juxtaposition of being star-struck while knowing from experience that they’re an every day average person, just like you. Well, maybe not so average. We’re poets, remember.
I keep dating poets, fucking poets. It makes poet-crushes even stranger, because then you know it could come to fruition, there’s a chance.
Bonus points if you’re at least halfway decent and know that there’s people out there with poet-crushes on you.
